Yuma Sheriff’s Office ID’d victim of a collision

Yuma, Arizona-The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a recent accident.

According to information released bt Tania Pavlak, Public Affairs Specialist with the YCSO, the pedestrian was identified as Donald Pannel, 58, of Yuma, AZ. Next of kin notification has been made.

As the public was informed, on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at approximately 5:46 AM, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Highway 95 and Avenue 6 E.

The initial investigation revealed a red Chevrolet Equinox was traveling eastbound on Highway 95 when a pedestrian walking near the roadway, stepped into the path of travel of the vehicle. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries from the collision and was pronounced deceased on scene.

The pedestrian has not been identified at this time. Next of kin notification is pending.

This case remains under investigation at this time. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
