Calexico, California- Last week officers responded to two separate commercial burglary alarms at local businesses.
In the first incident, officers discovered a burglarized office with a shattered window and ransacked interior.
Officers conducted a search of the property and located a subject fleeing the scene. The suspect was detained and found in possession of various stolen items from the office.
The suspect was identified as Juan Carlos Estrada, a 42-year-old Calexico transient.
Estrada was taken into custody for commercial burglary.
In the second case, officers arrived to find a shattered glass door to the business.
Officers conducted a systematic search for the suspect and it wasn’t long before the individual was located nearby.
Surveillance footage was obtained and showed the suspect prowling the property before shattering a glass door, entering the business, and taking the cash register from within the business.
The suspect was identified as George Ramos Cazares, a 35-year-old Mexicali resident.
He was also taken into custody for commercial burglary.
Officers were able to locate the stolen cash register and returned it to the business owner.
