Arizona Attorney General’s Office Helps Protect Vulnerable Seniors

PHOENX, Arizona.- The Arizona Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is working to protect the most vulnerable Arizonans through informative presentations by the AGO’s Community Outreach and Education Coordinators, who travel the state teaching seniors about fraud and scams.

They teach the elderly about a long list of topics including how to stay safe while using the internet and increasing awareness about various phone scams, to help ensure Arizona’s seniors know what to do if someone tries to take advantage of them.

From January through August of 2022, the AGO’s Community Outreach team completed senior fraud presentations for 25 elderly groups at places like retirement homes and community centers.
AGTV spoke with seniors in Surprise about what they learned from a recent presentation.

So far this year, the AGO’s Community Outreach Section completed 200 presentations on various topics.

Other programs include:
Anti-Bullying
Anti-Human Trafficking
Life Care Planning
Suicide Prevention
Opiod Addiction Awareness and Prevention
Internet Safety
Vaping and Tobacco Cessation.
