Yuma Sector Border Patrol K-9 agent discovers human smuggling

YUMA, Arizona.- U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Yuma Sector responded to a citizen report of a disabled vehicle south of the Highway 95 checkpoint last Thursday afternoon and discovered a human smuggling load in progress.
A canine sniff indicated potential contraband, leading agents to discover four migrants in the back seat, a loaded 9 mm handgun, a small amount of methamphetamine and two pipes that contained methamphetamine residue.
One smuggler had two active warrants from the Yuma Police Department.
Agents turned over the smugglers and illegal possessions to the Arizona Department of Public Safety state troopers, then transported the migrants to Yuma Sector for processing.
