Yuma resident becomes homeless after fire on Monday

YUMA. Arizona _ On Monday, August the 8th, 2022, at approximately 6 am, Rural Metro Fire Department in Yuma Countuñy, Arizona responded to a report of a trailer on fire in the area of Fifth St and Vaughn Ave. Upon arrival, crews found a trailer with heavy smoke showing. Crews quickly deployed hose lines to extinguish. While extinguishing, crews were notified of a shed and mattress nearby also on fire. Extra hose lines were deployed and the fire was quickly extinguished. Upon arrival of our next due engine, a large column of black smoke was seen and the next engine was rerouted to that area. Upon arrival, crews found a trailer fully involved. Crews quickly deployed hose lines and extinguished the additional fire.

Red Cross was called for one displaced person. One firefighter sustained an injury and was transported to YRMC.

The cause of these fires are under investigation.
