Yuma County Sheriff makes significant arrests related to a Residential Burglary

Yuma, Arizona.- On Friday, June 23, 2023, at approximately 8:51 PM, The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) responded to a report of a possible residential burglary in progress in the 12400 block of E. Via Estrella.
According to information released by Tania Pavlak, Public Affairs Specialist, a neighbor called law enforcement to report suspicious activity coming from a home in the area that should be vacant at the time. Upon deputy arrival, contact was made with a suspect at the home in question, and they stated they were related to the homeowner. During this initial contact, multiple subjects were attempting to leave the home undetected, but were successfully detained.
YCSO’s Criminal Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. A search warrant on the residence was executed with the assistance of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and Yuma Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team for further subjects possibly still in the home.
During the course of this investigation, 5 suspects were identified and arrested.Giselle Cardenas, 25, Jonathan Hernandez, 22, Carmen Maldonado, 33, Alfredo Medina, 18, and Jason Rainer, 42, of Yuma, AZ were arrested and booked on 2nd Degree Residential Burglary and 1st Degree Criminal Trespassing.
