Yuma, Arizona. – On Friday, February 17, 2023, retired K9 Raico passed away peacefully with his handler, Sgt. Malone, by his side.
Raico served YPD from 2013 until his retirement on October 3rd, 2019.
In May of 2013, Sgt Malone asked the Fraternal Order of Police Yuma Lodge 24 to assist her with raising money from the community to purchase another K9. With the overwhelming generosity of the community, over $15,000 was raised, and Raico was purchased in August 2013.
Raico was truly the communities K9. Raico was a dual-purpose drug and patrol K9 who served this community well during his six years with the department.
