YUMA, Arizona- On Wednesday, August 10, 2022, approximately 7pm, Rural Metro Fire in Yuma County responded to a report of a large fire in a backyard in the area of Sun St and Avenue C. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke showing from the backyard, and debris on the roof of the main home on fire. Crews quickly deployed hose lines and extinguished the fire on top of the main home. Crews then moved to the backyard to find a guest home becoming involved by multiple piles of brush and palm trees burning. The fire was extinguished on and near the home and crews went interior to ensure no fire was in the home. Rural Metro firefighters stayed on scene throughout the night extinguishing the remaining brush and tree fires. Both structures had minimal damage from the fire.
No injuries were reported.
Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department was called for mutual aid.
