Yuma, Arizona.- On Monday, January 30, 2023, at approximately 1:37 pm, officers responded to the area of S. Avenue 3E and E. 48th Street in reference to a deceased subject located in the canal by workers of the Yuma Mesa Irrigation District.
According to Information Released By Sergeant Lori Franklin, the Yuma Police Department Dive Team was called out and recovered a male body that was later identified as 28 year old Jose Jesus Velasco, who had been reported missing out of San Luis, AZ on January 24th. The initial investigation at the scene showed no signs of foul play.
The next of kin and San Luis Police Department were notified.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
