Man arrested in connection of an Attempted Homicide case in Yuma

Yuma, Arizona. – the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office announced that a man connected with a case of Attempted Homicide has been identified and arrested.

As the information released by Tania Pavlak, Public Affairs Specialist with the agency, on Friday, January 27, 2023, at approximately 12:12 AM, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting disturbance and a victim with a gunshot wound in the 500 Block of S. Vaughn Avenue.

Upon arrival, Deputies located the victim, a 31-year-old male, who had apparent gunshot wounds. Rural Metro responded and he was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation.

On Friday, February 10th, 2023, YCSO said that during the course of this investigation, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) Criminal Investigations Bureau identified 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝗜𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮-𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘇, 24, of Yuma, as a suspect involved in this case.

On Friday, February 10, 2023, Yuma Police Department (YPD) Officers observed the sought for suspect at a residence in the 4100 Block of W. 3rd Place, Yuma, AZ and notified YCSO Investigators.

YCSO Investigators responded and made contact with the suspect with the assistance of YPD Officers and YCSO Deputies.

Ibarra- Martinez was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for 2nd Degree Attempted Homicide, three counts of Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapons, Aggravated Assault, two counts of Drive-By Shooting, Disorderly Conduct with Weapons, and other Gang related charges.

This case remains an active investigation at this time.
