Imperial County Fire Department monitors potential impact of a storm in the area

The Imperial County Fire Department and Office of Emergency Services is currently monitoring a storm that will impact portions of the North County. We currently have crews at the township of Bombay to assess and assist as needed. The US Nation Weather Services Phoenix AZ issued a flash flood warning for the area. Please use caution if in the area.

    North Central Imperial County in southeastern California…
    Riverside County in southern California…
  • Until 715 PM PDT.
  • At 307 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
    heavy rain in Box Canyon Road. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain
    have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly.
    HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
    producing flash flooding.
    SOURCE…Radar.
    IMPACT…Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
    urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

    Chiriaco Summit, North Shore, Bombay Beach and Imperial Hot
    Mineral Springs.

    Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
    deaths occur in vehicles.
