Tucson, Arizona. – Over $538,000 and 60 grants were awarded by the Catholic Foundation on Friday, March 31, 2023. Catholic parishes, schools, and social service entities in the Diocese of Tucson will use these funds to support programs, projects, or services that are one-time purchases or activities within the geographical boundaries of the Diocese of Tucson.
Many parishes and schools need financial support to update essential structures such as roofs, air conditioning, lighting, sound systems, technology, and parking lots. With the help of the Catholic Foundation’s Annual Catholic Appeal, other organizations are able to pursue projects and initiatives that would’ve been inaccessible otherwise. Examples of other projects include:
Youth leadership training at San Solano Missions
New kneelers in Saint Augustine Cathedral
Improved courtyard at St. Joseph Catholic School that includes rainwater harvesting
Enhancements to young adult gathering areas at St. Thomas More Newman Center
Equipment for Yuma Catholic High School’s hands-on Agricultural Science Program
Assistance with transitional housing for former prisoners with Kolbe Society
Furnishing a playroom and therapy room at Catholic Community Services
Clothing for homeless men at Poverello House
Remodeling Reachout Women’s Center
Grant applications may be submitted by Diocesan offices, parishes, Catholic schools, Catholic Community Services, and other organizations under the Diocese of Tucson that are in good standing with the Catholic Foundation. Grants are due December 31st every year. A committee of Catholic Foundation Board Members and Diocesan staff meet to review the requests.
